Derek Harms

With a heavy heart, we share that Derek Harms passed away at age 14 peacefully in his sleep September 13, 2018. Derek had an unknown heart condition (cardiomyopathy), which occurred at birth and worsened as he aged. We are happy that Derek was able to live life to the fullest and was a good friend to everyone lucky enough to know him. Derek enjoyed skiing, hockey, football, Band, Boy Scouts and of course his video games. We are thankful for all of the messages and thoughts from our family, friends, and the community. Derek will be deeply missed by his parents, Brian and Michelle Harms; sister, Kristina Harms; paternal grandmother, Carolyn Harms; maternal grandparents, Kathleen and Carl Pielmeier; and uncles, Greg (Karen) Harms and Craig (Hḗlḕne) Pielmeier, as well as his cousin Claire. He is further survived by other family members, Relatives, and friends. The open visitation for Derek will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 20275 Davidson Rd, Brookfield, WI 53045. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Karen Natterstad officiating. A private burial service will take place Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 10:00 am.
