June 2nd, 1952 - May 14th, 2024
Derell S. Barthel passed away at 4:30am on May 14, 2024 at his home in Summerville, SC. He was surrounded by his loving family. Derell was born to Rudy and Ethel Barthel on June 2, 1952 in Summerville, South Carolina. Derell proudly served his country in the United States Army, retiring after 22 years of service. Derell loved NASCAR, fishing and working in his wood shop. One of Derell’s true passions was helping others in need. He will truly be missed. Derell was survived by his loving wife Shirley Barthel, 2 sons Jason and John, 1 granddaughter Courtney and his 4 dogs. Graveside services with full military rites will be held on May 28, 2024 at 12:00pm at Fort Jackson National Cemetary, 4170 Percival Rd. Columbia, SC 29229.
