Desiree Nicole Almgren Turner
April 28th, 1994 - March 31st, 2019
Desiree Nicole Almgren Turner April 28, 1994 – March 31, 2019 Desiree Nicole Almgren Turner, 24, of Columbia, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, March 31, 2019. Born in Orlando Florida, she was the daughter of Axel Gene Almgren and Laura Wurtz Flowers (spouse Mark). Desiree was baptized in 2010 at Palmetto Church of Christ in Columbia. Surviving in addition to her parents is her husband, David Turner; two sons, JJ Walker, Elijah Turner; and daughter, Ella-Claire Thiele; brothers, Phillip Wurtz, Larry Wurtz and Adam Almgren; paternal grandmother, Mary Kull Heath; maternal grandfather, Lawrence Mike Wurtz Sr. (spouse Donna); paternal uncle, Kyle Heath; maternal uncles, Lawrence Michael Wurtz Jr (spouse Carol) and Jeffery (Jay) Wurtz; God-parents, Beetle and Debbie Thiele; and many remaining close family and friends. Desiree was predeceased by daughter, Taylor Walker; paternal grandfather, Mike Almgren; and maternal grandmother, Sylvia Wurtz Whitehouse. Desiree was a beautiful, fun loving, free spirit who only wanted to be happy in her life. She loved her family more than anything. Due to poor choices and trusting in the wrong people, Desiree paid a price that she was only partially responsible for…but she took it as though it were all hers. She learned through that process that all that mattered is what God thought of her and she began to heal. She continued to struggle, but now she is free. Desiree’s Celebration of Life Service will be held at Palmetto Church of Christ on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. located at 7000 Nursery Road, Columbia, SC 29212.
