Dewey Glen Matthews
December 11th, 1941 - August 28th, 2019
Dewey Glen Matthews, 77, of Port Clinton, OH died Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, OH. He was born December 11, 1941 in Rogersville, TN the son of Ulysses Grant and Lura Anna (Thompson) Matthews. On Easter Sunday, April 14, 1968 he married Nancy L. Cox, and she survives. Glen had worked for US Gypsum for 40 years retiring in 2006. He served as a Deacon at Church of God of Prophecy for many years and enjoyed singing Gospel Music and watching the Pittsburg Steelers. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Harkleroad, Luna Benton, Virgie Simpson, Della Mowel, Nellie Hughes, Audrey Light and Dencil Malory; his brothers, Johnie Matthews and Lloyd Matthews. Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Nancy Matthews, children; Lisa (Kenny) Gosik, Anthony W. (Leticia) Matthews, Theresa (Kenneth) Mazur, and Jason (Donna) Matthews, 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and one on the way; brother, Onnie (Wanda) Matthews and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 10 – 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at Gospel Lighthouse, 1609 Goshen Valley Rd, Church Hill, TN. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. Dave Morelock officiating. Burial will follow in Harris Cemetery on Grassy Creek Rd. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Heart Beat of Ottawa County, 1848 E Perry St, Port Clinton, OH 43452 or the Gospel Lighthouse, 1609 Goshen Valley Rd, Church Hill, TN 37642. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the Matthews family.
