They called him Dex. Born to Marci and Dexter Woods, II in Glendale, California, his life began with much happiness. An almost 10 lb. baby boy. Who could ask for anything more?! How does one describe a person's life? Through his/her education, accomplishments, family ... or, can one be remembered by the soul which is the true identity of a person? In Dex's case, a caring, loving individual with a more than generous and kind persona. Dex was blessed with physical good looks that were often recognized in his youth. The women would make comments about his handsomeness - and so would the men! His family never saw anything like it. The comments never ceased. And unfortunately they were the cause of his first heartbreak. The father of his fiance thought for sure his daughter would be cheated on so broke off the engagement. He thought Dex was too good looking. He was strictly a one-woman man and would never have been that kind of man. He was a man who loved the Lord and tried to live by His words. Dex gave most of his life to his country. He was a 26-year-veteran of the Army, having done his duty in both Iraq and Afghanistan. He came back home disabled both inwardly and physically. Nothing can repair that kind of damage done to a human being. The hurt goes on. In his older age, he became introverted. His dogs kept him motivated-both Major and Yogi -were great canine companions to Dex. He loved his dogs. Major was adopted from the Humane Society and was a member of the family for a good many years and finally succumbed to cancer in his later years. Yogi is still a pup, so to speak, of only a few years old. A sweet and active dog, who has found a forever family already. And who was Dexter Woods? He was a man who dearly loved his children more than anything else in the world. His biggest goal in life was to be a father, husband and family man. That's all. Not too much to ask of life, right? It didn't quite happen that way for Dex, which was probably the biggest hurt of his life. That's all he ever wanted. You would want him to be your best friend. He loved classical music, loved to paint with oils, travel and the sun. Loved those rays! His trip to Croatia was his favorite vacation ever. He got to catch those rays just about any time he wanted to and it was heaven for him. Oh. One of his favorite foods was pasta with Cauliflower, oil and onions. An old Italian recipe from way back. Dex is preceded in his passing by his father, Dexter Woods, II, brother, David Richard Woods, his maternal grandparents, Robert and Jane Hill and his paternal Grandparents, Thelma (Taggie) and Dexter Woods. Dex is survived by his son, Dexter (Courtney) Woods IV, Kristin (Jenna) Woods, and Maria Woods; also, his grandchildren; Hailey, Titus, Dominick and Olivia; his mother, Marci Hill, and his brother, Daniel (Tracey) Woods; his sister-in law, Jeann Hughes, nieces and nephews, Joanna Woods, Jordan, Casey and Emma. He loved them all. The family would like to thank First Choice for their continuous care of Dex in his last days, but primarily and foremost, Raine Arimitsu for her beautiful and innate sense of continuous, loving care for Dex in his last days, A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 3, 2021, at Summers Funeral Home, 3629 E. Ustick Rd., Meridian, Id, 83642. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Humane Society or an organization of your choice would be greatly appreciated. We love you, Dex.
