Diane D’Agostino
November 8th, 2014
Longtime North Charleston resident Diane D’Agostino, passed away on Saturday November 8, 2014, at age 70. Diane was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 22, 1944, the only child of Thomas Roosevelt Sompii and Virginia Bryant Sompii . Diane worked in retail sales for Belk, in North Charleston, Findlay’s Jewelry and Karl’s Jewelry, in Ohio, for over 25 years and excelled in every position she held including store manager. She was an asset to all of her employers and excelled at customer service. Diane was an avid reader of fiction, visiting historical Charleston sites and spending time with her much loved family. She never gave up. She never complained, maintaining a brave and cheerful outlook of an optimistic future – even through her many health problems. She continued to be there for her four children, and five grandchildren, and be involved in their lives, through their daily needs and dramas, as they moved through adulthood. Diane is survived by her children, Christine Davis (Kevin) of Simi Valley, CA, Shawn Moore(Patricia) of Marianna, FL, Heather Lanesky (Joe) of Summerville, SC and Holly Mostoller (Scott) of Jacksonville, FL. She adored her five grandchildren, who affectionately called her Bamie, Gabrielle Pangilinan and Marissa Deplata of San Diego and Simi Valley, CA and Stephanie, Lindsay and Nicholas Lanesky of Summerville, SC. She is also survived by her beloved canine baby, Bennett who directly contributed to Diane’s daily emotional well-being and quality of life. Diane is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Virginia Somppi. Diane will be immensely missed by her family and friends and her passing leaves an enormous void. A private memorial service will be held for immediate family at a future date and private location. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Bennett’s name to the Northwood’s Veterinarian Clinic. Arrangements are by Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation & Burial Services, North Charleston, SC.
