Diane Honaker
December 8th, 1949 - December 29th, 2021
Obituary of Patricia Diane Meyer Honaker December 8, 1949, to December 29, 2021. Diane Honaker passed away December 29, 2021, at her home in Summerland, CA after a courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her husband, John, her sister Jacquelyn Whitehurst, and parents Paul and Helen Meyer. Diane is survived by her niece Jill Jones and children, Maverick and Mackenzie; brother John Paul Meyer and daughters, Rachel Gonzalez and Rebecca Anwyl; sister-in-law Martha Hitchcock, husband Ronald, and family; and very close friends Kathy and Jim Isaac along with many other wonderful friends in the Santa Barbara area. Born in Eau Gallie, Florida, Diane’s family moved often during her childhood, due to her father’s work. She met her husband, John Clyde Honaker, in Albuquerque, N M, and they were married at a lovely canyon in the Jemez Mountains. Not long afterward, they moved to CA and lived happily in Goleta for many years. An activity they shared with family members and friends was fishing the San Juan River in northwest New Mexico. Diane loved fly fishing and was active in the Santa Barbara Flyfishers Club. Diane became a very experienced manager in the dry-cleaning business, and after her husband‘s death, moved to Summerland, and bought a company with three locations in Santa Barbara and Montecito, which she successfully ran until her death. Diane cherished her friends, and relationships with long term employees. She continued to enjoy vacations spent fly fishing many rivers in the USA, and New Zealand and the Pantanal in South America. She usually celebrated holidays with her friends, the Isaacs, and planned a Christmas party each year for her employees. She was more than a boss to them, and they became her family too. An accurate description of Diane would include smart, beautiful, loyal and kind. She was always available and willing to help, or just to be there when needed. She enjoyed a good steak and a Diet Coke! Her sunny, happy, generous nature is badly missed by those privileged to know her. She will be interred with her husband, John, at Santa Barbara Cemetery after cremation. A Memorial Service, to be held graveside, is scheduled for Sunday, February 6, 2022, at 1:30 pm.
