Diane Murphy
November 13th, 1944 - November 13th, 2015
Mrs. Diane Murphy, 71, of James Street, Scotia died peacefully on her 71st Birthday at Ellis Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 13, 1944 in Brooklyn, New York she was the daughter of the late Charles and Theresa Wojtowicz Koubek. Diane attended local schools and was employed as a clerk with New York State Department of Motor Vehicles in Albany for over 20 years, retiring in 2013. She enjoyed shopping and being with family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was united in marriage to Walter "Jim" Murphy on February 9, 1963. Jim served as a Chief Petty Officer with the United States Coast Guard for 21 years. Diane truly loved being an "officer's wife" and caring for her family and living in Cape May. That union ended sadly after Jim's passing on June 23, 1986. She was also preceded in death by two infant daughters. Survivors include two sons, Christopher (Desiree) Murphy and James (Carol) Murphy; four grandchildren, Jakob, Jonathan, Kelsey and Ashtyn Murphy; three siblings, Karin (Larry) Nasadoski, Nancy (Koubek) Hopkins and Charles (Loni) Koubek, Jr.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, November 20, 2015 at 11 o'clock at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam with Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis as celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home. Please visit the online memorial at www.brbsfuneral.com
