Diane M. Oldfield

Diane M. (Olin) Oldfield, age 65, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 28, 2018 surrounded by her family at her home in LaSalle, CO after battling lung cancer for the last year. She was born on April 25, 1953 at Mercy Hospital in Arvada, CO to William "Red” and Laura (Sarchet) Olin (Colgan) and was the youngest of three children. She was a 1971 graduate of Valley High School, where she enjoyed playing the clarinet in band. She continued to play for many years after that in the Valley High School Alumni Band. She married Tom Oldfield on December 31, 1981 in Greeley, CO. Together, they had a daughter, Laura Oldfield, who joined Tom’s other children: Cara (Oldfield) Willenbrecht, Joe Oldfield, and Christy (Oldfield) Thomsen. She worked as a bookkeeper for My Friends & Me Learning Center until her retirement in 2006. Diane’s hobbies included reading, playing games, and shopping. Diane was outgoing and friendly; she never met a stranger. She was kind, loving, and generous with both her time and money. She was brave, strong, and positive even as she was becoming more ill. She was such a fun person to be around, and she will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to know her. She is survived by her beloved husband of 36 years, Tom; brothers, Gary (Virginia) and Dale; children, Joe, Christy (Stan), and Laura (Derek); five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; several nieces and a nephew; and one great niece. Diane was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Cara. A small graveside service will be scheduled at a later time.
