Dianne Beverly Blachowski, 73, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Friday September 11, 2015, at Elmcroft Assisted Living. She was born on July 21, 1942, in Chicago, IL, along with her twin sister. She and her family moved to Arlington Heights, IL at the age of 11. She graduated from Arlington High School in 1960. Dianne attended Augustana Hospital School of Nursing, a small Chicago Hospital, 54 in her class; she remained in contact with many of them until her passing. She graduated in 1963. Her senior year she met her husband, John. He was a patient on her floor. Dianne married John, (a flier in the Navy) in 1969. Then they moved to Pensacola, FL. Later they moved to Brunswick, GA, and then to Guam where she worked as a visiting nurse for Gov Guam. After Guam they moved back to Pensacola where her husband was a flight instructor for the Navy. Dianne worked as a RN for a surgeon in Pensacola until they moved to Shreveport, LA. She worked for Arkla Gas Co. as an Occupational Health Nurse, and then moved to Denver for 20 years where she set up and managed one of the first health and wellness programs in the country. The last 10 years in Denver she worked for the Rocky Mountain News in the same capacity. In 2001 she moved to Kingsport with her twin sister and brother-in-law where they found their niche in the last pew of First Broad Street United Methodist Church. She went to work for Eastman Health and Wellness for 9 years. Her Kingsport activities were UM Women, Friends of Library Board, Crossroads Medical Mission, Sunriser Choir, and Oasis of Kingsport. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Eugene Gromek, Elizabeth Caroline Gromek, and her twin sister, Doreen Paul. Dianne is survived by her cousin, Gail Taylor and husband George of Delaware. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2PM at First Broad Street United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of Flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to either the Oasis of Kingsport at 1009 E. Sullivan St. Kingsport, Tennessee 37660, or the Crossroads Medical Mission at 300 W. Valley Dr. Bristol, Virginia 24201. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Blachowski family.
