Dino K Ullakko

Dino K. Ullakko passed away after a lengthy illness on September 17, 2011 at the University Of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. He was born on April 11, 1956 to Gary and Mae Ullakko in Bremerton, Washington. As a small child Dino moved with his family to Seattle, Washington. There he spent the rest of his life, graduating from Foster High School in 1974. Dino's main love in life was his family. His father Gary Ullakko who passed away in 2010, mother Mae Kinsella and his brother and sister-in-law Tony and Dawn Ullakko. Dino is also survived by numerous aunts and uncles, nieces and a grand niece, cousins and many supportive friends he grew up with and were an important part of his life. All of whom will miss him dearly. Dino had a fun loving and outgoing personality. He took joy in simple pleasures. Fishing was his passion. Especially with his brother, many fish were caught, and there was always a story to be told. He loved his job as a carpenter, and had pictures of each and every remodeling job. As we drove by buildings, he would tell his Mom with pride "I worked there". He had a productive construction business until his illness. Dino had many talents and interests such as art, music, gardening and most of all traveling to foreign lands. We lost someone we all loved and whose memory will remain forever in our hearts. A celebration of Dino's life will be held at the home of Tony and Dawn Ullakko on Saturday, October 15th. Open House 3:00pm-7:00pm. Following a poem by Kathy Varnum. DINO No words can express how much he’ll be missed Knowing Dino meant we knew we were blessed He touched our hearts like no other could do With a warmth and style—he was just plain cool! When he walked into a room, the party began He lit up the world by just being him. He was genuine with his words and his hug So good in sharing his caring and love. It wasn’t about him, but about you before long With a smile and laughter like a beautiful song. A precious son that gave you such pride He had talents and skills he never could hide Dino would fix, build, create—he could just do-- Lovely gardens, remodels and birdhouses too. “Hey, cous…,” meant Dino has arrived now He connected with each, it was so great how Admired by seven cousins younger than him. He had such fashion sense, their movie star kin And had hopes and dreams that life could be good Made the best of all things; he so loved great food. Fishing was a passion, a sport he adored With his brother, lakes & rivers explored With his Grandma, he couldn’t do wrong Their bond was so exceptionally strong. Music, too, was important, really enjoyed Drummer in his teen band, friends employed So many titles that each of us claim Son, brother, grandson, non were the same Cousin, uncle, nephew and friend—he was all We didn’t want to lose him but he got the call. He traveled to foreign lands with excited glee And then returned to tell us what we should see. Knowing what was important; eliminating the rest Though throughout it all, he passed the test Approachable beyond words, articulate too Important to our family, our togetherness glue. A free spirit--loving and living his own way Losing Dino has dimmed the light of our day. He modeled how we should care and be kind Keep his spirit alive there is goodness to find.
