Dixie Lynn Herrington, 60, passed away on June 24, 2016 in Salinas. She was born in Oakland CA on July 25, 1955 to Mae and Ben Jackson. Dixie grew up in Fremont and Mountain View until 1969 when the family moved to Salinas. She graduated from Salinas High School 1974 and then went to graduate from Wayne’s Beauty College. She then changed her career path to work at Radionics in Salinas as an electronic assembler where she met her husband Randy, then on to Light in Motion. The last few years, she enjoyed being a homemaker. She regularly attended Compass Church. She loved being involved with the various church programs, especially the Christmas Program where she dressed as an elf. She also loved to crochet blankets and scarves for her family members and friends. She liked to cook big feasts for the family during the holidays. She loved her animals like they were her children, especially her favorite cat, "Stripe". Dixie is survived by her husband of nearly 24 years Randy Herrington. Her niece Lisa Bettencourt and family Jonas, Lucas of Hollister, Ashley of Arizona. Her Nephew Jim Smith and children James of Salinas Rebecca if Temecula. Her niece Deanna Jackson and family Terry, Emory and Kennedy of Arizona. Her mother-in-law Claudia Herrington of Salinas, Sister-in-law Tina Herrington of Salinas. Other extended family across many states. She loved them all very deeply. Dixie was preceded by her parents Ben and Mae, and her sister Tressa Bates. Dixie’s Ashes to be spread in Monterey Bay on July 15, 2016. (everybody will meet at the boat in Monterey (Randy’s Fishing Trips) just before 3PM and then we will go out in the bay to spread Dixie’s Ashes.) Memorial Services to be held (time to be announced) at Compass Church, 830 Padre Dr. Salinas CA on July 16, 2016. A Reception will follow.

He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
