Dolores Barkell

Dolores Barkell, 81, a lifelong resident of Santa Fe, NM was called home to our Lord and Savior on October 28th, 2022. Dolores spent her life working hard in the retail industry until her retirement. She was a member of the Spanish Baptist Mission in Santa Fe and enjoyed singing and playing the piano (self-taught) during the services she attended. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends and reminiscing with them, she always had a nice story to share. Dolores lived her life loving the Lord and was a God fearing, God loving person. She always saw the good in people and greeted everyone with her big, beautiful smile. Dolores is preceded in death by her parents Anastacio and Agustina (Gurule) Ortega, brothers Henry (Alice) Ortega, Edward “Dado” (Stella) Ortega, Mariano (Pita) Ortega, Joe “Ruben” Ortega, Joe A. (Nora) Ortega, and sister Martha (Daniel) Peinado. Dolores will be reunited with her husband William B. Barkell at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Dolores is survived by her son Stephen (Nancy) Barkell, granddaughter Stephanie Wilson, grandson Roman Pohl, two wonderful great granddaughters and sister Margaret (Daniel) Martinez. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces, and other family members whom she loved dearly. A service will be held on Friday, November 18th, 2022, at 12:00 pm at the City of Faith Christian Fellowship located at 4001Lucia Ln, Santa Fe, NM 87507 with interment to follow at 2:00 pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. A reception will be held at the City of Faith Christian Fellowship from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
