Dolores ""Lori"" Maxine Bragd

April 16th, 1930 - April 7th, 2024

On December 7, 1951, Lori was united in marriage to Kenneth C Bragd in the First Lutheran Church in Monmouth, Illinois. Lori had one son, Stephen, of Meridian, Idaho, and two daughters, Kendolyn Fisher, of Fullerton, California, and Deborah Weech, of Winnemucca, Nevada.

After joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1956 Ken and Lori were sealed together for time and all eternity in the Logan, Utah, LDS temple on April 10, 1961. She was a faithful and devoted follower of Jesus Christ, and as an active member of the church, did much good serving others in a Christlike manner with her friends and family. She gathered a tremendous amount of family history about her family from several generations and prepared ten large volumes of family history with dates and pictures of her ancestors. We owe her a deep debt of gratitude for her determined efforts and devotion to family on both sides of the veil and our family legacy.

In 1971 Lori graduated from Boise State University, Magna Cum Laude, with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She taught second and third grade in the Kuna school district and enjoyed every minute of it. Lori delighted in working with children and was an excellent teacher. She loved her students and had great influence for good among the youth. She seemed to be forever young with a spirit that didn’t grow old, and she delighted others with a generous smile. Many saw in her the beauty of life and looked to the example she set and the words she taught. She looked for good in all people and lived as an inspiration to her family and all those who loved and knew her. Her life was a busy one; her faith in God, her wisdom, health, courage, and clear mind gave her the fortitude to press forward through the challenges and struggles she experienced in life, looking forward with hope for the great blessings life offered and what she could accomplish. Her countenance reflected a ray of light that showed her love for life, knowing God was aware of her personally.

She was able to be a strong companion to Ken who was injured in the war. Her devotion to helping him made their life sweet and drew them closer together. She drove a huge motor home as they traveled the country after Ken retired, her barely able to see over the huge bus steering wheel at 5’2”. She did great at it.

Lori was blessed with talent to write stories, poetry, and music. She sang one of the songs she wrote, Together Forever, at Ken’s funeral in a loving tribute to him. She was a true performer, singing on TV at age 18 in a talent show, participating in high school plays, playing Beth in Little Women, played many lead roles in community plays in various cities she lived in. She relished playing her role as the cook in Sleeping Beauty in the Children’s Theater Press in Lewiston, Idaho, and did so with gusto.

She had a passion for singing, tap dance, playing the piano, guitar, banjo, and fiddle. She played in the Old Time Fiddlers for many years, singing and playing her different instruments, and enjoyed every minute of it. She also sang in choirs, Sweet Adelines, and was a soloist. She was a member of a bowling league and got to be quite good at it.

She laughed with delight at funny things and had a witty sense of humor. She loved her family; she had many friends who were her partners in fun, and she loved doing all kinds of things with them. She was also generous to a fault. This barely does justice to her full life, and with the family history she gathered, all will be able to see the things she accomplished and her zest for life.

Her survivors include her children, Stephen Bragd, Kendolyn Fisher, and Deborah Weech, ten grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ken, her parents, two brothers, Gerald and Max, her sister, Doris, and two grandsons, Scott, and John.

Till we meet again, Lori, we love you, always and forever.
