Don Dain Baggerly
September 16th, 1932 - March 25th, 2012
Don Dain Baggerly, 79, passed away, March 25, 2012 in Oregon City, Oregon. Don was born in Beaver, Oklahoma, to parents Carl and Virginia Baggerly. Don his parents and three month old sister, Claudette moved to Oregon in 1936. Two other sons were to follow. They lived in many different locations before settling in Molalla. While Don was attending Molalla High School he decided to join the military and joined the Air Force on his 17th birthday. Don always said that was the second best decision he ever made. the first was meeting Joan. In 12954 while stationed in England he met Joan Davis on a blind date, arranged by Joan's best friend, Gloria. When they decided to get married they had to overcome many obstacles until they finally managed to get married in Montreal, Canada on November 24, 1956. Don managed to get a shipment to a USAF base in Brize Norton, England. Their first son, Glen (Becky) was born in London and in 1963 son, Clay (Lisa) was born in Port Angeles, Washington, while Don was stationed at a rada site in Neah Bay, Washington. Don's final base was at Francis E. Warren base in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He retired from the Air Force in 1969, after serving 20 years. The family finally settled in West Linn and Don began working for the City of Oregon City. He worked there for 20 years before retiring. Don was our family's anchor, wonderful hiusband, great Dad, and "Poppi" to his five granchildren, Ryan, Cody, Kurley, Olivia (Poppi always called her "Ollie") and youngest grandson, Cade. Don loved going to the two girls soccer games and watching Cade play baseball. Don had played baseball at Molalla High School, so he loved it when his two sons and then Cade carried on the tradition. Don was predeceased by his parents; sister, Claudette; and brother, Perry. Hi is survived by his wife, Joan; brother, Dan (Frances) of San Jose; Joan's sister, Shirley and brother-in-law, Ben Jones of Kent, England; and two nephews, Kevin and Benjie Jones. Don was an incredible artist, grew and incredible garden and loved sunflowers. We all miss him terrible. "Till we meet again, Your Family."
