Don Jones

Donald Gilbert Jones KINGSPORT - Donald Gilbert Jones, 66 of Kingsport, passed away Sunday morning August 3, 2014 surrounded by his loved ones. Don was born in Kingsport in 1948 where he lived most of his life. He served in the United States Navy and taught History and coached at both Virginia High School and Robinson Middle School. He served as the Music Director at Gravelly Baptist Church for 39 years. Don was an avid hunter, fisherman and an employee of Domtar. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Gilbert Jones and Eunice Winkle Jones. Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years, Belinda Jones; daughters, Angela Cradic and husband Robert of Kingsport, Mira Wise and husband Mike of Kingsport; sons, Clint Jones and wife Marilyn of Hurst, Texas and Joshua Jones of Kingsport; grandchildren, Ryan Jones, Hannah and Aaron Wise, Liliana Cradic and Tucker Jones; brother, Steve Jones; special cousin Haskel Jones; many cousins, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Gravelly Baptist Church, (formerly the Gravelly Elementary School) 647 Gravelly Road, Kingsport, TN. A celebration of life service will follow at 7 p.m. at the church with Rev. Clint Jones and Rev. Terry Bennett officiating. Music will be provided by the Gravelly Baptist Church Choir and John Powers. A military graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Oak Hill Memorial Park (Garden of Devotion) with the American Legion #3/265 conducting the rites. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 2:55 p.m. Pallbearers will be Ryan Jones, Mike Wise, Mike Cassell, Paul Adams, Jeff Grizzel, Dakota Grizzel, Martin Gillenwater, and Jerry Gilliam. Honorary pallbearers will be Aaron Wise, Robert Cradic, Carlos Dickerson, Haskel Jones, and Fred Lane. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gravelly Baptist Church, (Building Fund), 500 Gravelly Road, Kingsport, TN 37660. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport is serving the Jones family.
