"Beverly Hills, FL-Donald W. Holder, 87, passed away suddenly on May 22, 2011 in Springfield, MA while visiting family. Born May 29, 1923 in Haverhill, MA, he was the son of the late Purdy and Irma (Hogan) Holder. Donald served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. In 1946, he married the love of his life, Wanda (Grockowski). Raising his family of 6 children in Lynn, MA, Donald had a longtime career in the Lynn Post Office and retired as Postmaster of Topsfield, MA. Donald was a founding member of the Lynn City League and a member of NAPUS and Rotary International. In 1989, he moved from Marblehead to Florida to continue his retirement. He took much enjoyment in fishing, bowling, golf, horseshoes and his faithful dog, Angel. Donald was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years in 2010. He will be greatly missed by his children; Donna Jeanne Menger and her husband John of Englewood, FL, Carol Norris and her husband James of S.Hadley, MA, Nancy Lee Foster and her husband Ronald of Port St. Lucie, FL, Paul Donald Holder and his wife Ellen of Marblehead, MA, David Scott Holder and his wife Jill of Mendon, MA, and Gary Thomas Holder of Beverly Hills, FL. He will also be remembered by his sister Marion Wood and husband David of Sun City Center, FL. "Gramps" will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Christine Arsenault, Marianne Menger, Tres McCann, Jeremy McCann, Michael Foster, Mathew Foster, Jason Holder, Geoffrey Holder, Emily Holder and Brian Holder as well as his great grandchildren Gavin, Raven, Freida, Ryan, Kaidey, Anthony, and Ethan. Beers & Story S.Hadley Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Donald will be laid to rest with his wife in Beverly Hills, FL.
