Donald W. Andrews, Ph.D., 81, of Lexington, South Carolina passed away June 6, 2018. He was born on August of 1936 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Charles and Sally (Wilson) Andrews. Don graduated from Columbia High School in 1954. He went on to complete his Bachelors of Education at USC and Master’s Degree SC State. Don completed his Doctorate at University of Southern Mississippi. Although Don enjoyed his 14 years of accounting, he went on to what became a labor of love, teaching. He dedicated years teaching to multinational children in Okinawa Japan. Don was an avid Carolina Gamecock Fan. He had season tickets and would keep statistics regularly. He will be missed by those he loved and those that loved him. Donald is survived by his sister, Helen Andrews, a nephew Michael Andrews (Cheryl), a niece Heather Andrews, a great nephew, Jason Andrews (Tiffany) their children; Gypsy and Harlequin. He was preceded in death by a brother Charles A Andrews. The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington SC 29073 on Monday, June 11, 2018 from 10 AM until 11 AM. Funeral services will follow the family visitation in the chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Oakley Dickson officiating. Interment will be at Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 W. Dunbar Road, Lexington SC. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
