Donald "Cappy" W. Barrett

Donald W. "Cappy" Barrett was born on April 16, 1946 in Los Angeles, CA and passed away on July 25, 2024 in Hilton Head Island, SC at the age of 78.

Dear husband to Vicky Barrett (nee Beaton) for 58 years; father to Stephanie Gentemann (Michael) and Matthew Barrett (Shannon); grandfather to Alex Gentemann, Mimi Barrett, Crosby Barrett and Jordan Gentemann; brother to Robert Barrett (Janice), Mark Barrett (Penny), John Barrett and Randy Barrett (Jane); brother-in-law to LouAnne Young-Barrett; preceded in death by his parents, Wolsey and Evelyn Barrett, and brother David Barrett.

Don was a true Renaissance Man, full of life and always eager to explore new things and new ideas. His military service in the U.S.A.F. and array of corporate management positions moved him around the country and exposed him to world travel.

He wore many hats, held many licenses and endeavored in many hobbies. He was an engineer, a sailor, a scuba diver, a pilot, a certified boat captain, a Ham Radio enthusiast, a bicyclist, a broker-in-charge, a developer, an entrepreneur, an amateur astronomer, a photographer and an avid consumer of the latest technologies.

Don loved people and was a social butterfly with a warm sense of humor, always out to greet strangers in a genuine effort to make new friends, but most of all he loved The Lord. He served the church as a deacon, an elder and helped found Safe Harbor Church in Queenstown, MD. He will be warmly welcomed by the departed and greatly missed by those left behind.
