Donald E. Bartlett
September 17th, 1920 - September 1st, 2010
Mr. Donald E. Bartlett, 89, of Mechanic Street, St. Johnsville, NY died peacefully on September 1, 2010 at his summer home in Cooperstown, NY 16 days before his 90th Birthday. Born in the Town of Charleston, he was the son of the late Elisha G. Bartlett and Myrtle Conover Bartlett. A lifelong area resident, Donald was employed by the Town of Root Highway Department for many years until his retirement. He also served proudly with the United States Army during WWII in Japan. A simple man with a big heart, he enjoyed camping, his family, and rooting for his favorite team, the NY Yankees. He was a man of faith and a member of the Church of Christ. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. On December 13, 1942 he was united in marriage to Anna Bilenic Bartlett. That union lasted 56 years until her passing on September 13, 1998. He was also predeceased by his children, Joseph Bartlett and Rosemary Wagner; a sister Joyce Lesperance; and a brother Lyman Bartlett. His family includes, three sons, Stephen Bartlett and his wife Betty of Fort Plain, NY, Donald Bartlett of Zephyer Hills, FL, Mark Bartlett and his wife Cindy of Palatine Bridge, NY; four daughters, Paulette White and her husband Erwin of Fort Plain, NY, Deborah Terranova and her husband Joel of Canajoharie, NY, Lisa Bartlett of Fort Plain, NY, and Barbara Dennis and her husband Bob of St. Johnsville, NY; two brothers Guy Bartlett and his wife Lois of Sharon Springs, NY and Richard Bartlett and his wife Colleen of Sharon Springs, NY; a sister, Marion Hohensheldt of Palatine Bridge, NY; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; his canine companion, Joey; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at 10 o'clock at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317 with Rev. Robert Platt presiding. Interment will follow in Charleston Christian Church Cemetery with military honors. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Monday, September 6, 2010 from 5 until 7p.m. at the funeral home.
