Donald S. Burnett
March 29th, 1932 - February 2nd, 2018
Donald S. Burnett, age 85, of Gloversville, died Friday, February 2, 2018, surrounded by his loving family at the Fulton Center. He was born March 29, 1932 in Gloversville, the son of Charles and Pauline (Albrecht) Burnett. He was a 1951 graduate of Gloversville High School. He faithfully served in the US Army in Korea from 1952 to 1954 and was discharged as desk sergeant. When he returned from Korea he became employed at MCA Record Company as a shipping clerk where he worked for 43 years until his retirement in 1997. He then worked as a crossing guard at Park Terrace School for about 12 years. Don was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit and the former Catholic War Veterans as well as its bowling team at Perry Lanes. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Louise M. (Gray) Burnett; four children, Linda L. Christman (Ronald Sr.), Edward D. Burnett, Jeanne M. Burman (Tennille) and Christina L. Dygon (Paul), all of Gloversville; seven grandchildren, Ronald Christman, Jr. (Tresha), Jason Christman (Amy), Matthew Christman (Chrissy), Amanda Christman, Marisa Dygon, Zachery Williams and Izabela Williams; great-grandchildren, Ashley Boles, Alyssa Christman, Ronald Christman III, Tanner Christman, Rilee Christman, Kassidy Valachovic, Katryna Valachovic and Zachary Jones and great-great-grandson, Ryder Henderson. A niece and a nephew also survive. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles Burnett and Pauline Burnett Stewart and his brother, Charles W. Burnett (Dolores). The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7pm Tuesday, February 6 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St, Gloversville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM Wednesday at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 151 S. Main St; with the Rev. Donald Czelusniak officiating. Memorial Contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimer's Assoc. of Northeastern New York, Pine West Plaza, Bldg. 4. Suite 405; Washington Ave. Ext; Albany, NY 12205 or to the Church of the Holy Spirit, 151 S. Main St; Gloversville, NY 12078.
