Donald D. Davidson “3D”, age 87 of Rome, NY and Venice, Florida went peacefully to the Lord, with his loving family by his side, on December 5th, 2010. Don was born September 23, 1923 in Rome, NY, the son of Elmer and Florence (Terri) Davidson. He married Elizabeth A. Blackburn on June 29, 1946 in Rome, NY. He served in the Navy, stationed in Pearl Harbor during WWII. In 1962 Don opened Davidson Chevrolet in Rome, NY and later owned and operated five automotive dealerships and several automated car washes with his children. Don adored the love of his life Elizabeth “Betty” Davidson for 64 years. Don’s pride and passion was his entire family and he was a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his seven children, Donald (Barbara) Davidson, Diane Davidson, Douglas (Susan) Davidson, Deborah Davidson, Denise (Charles) Getty, Dwight (Barbara) Davidson, Dawn (William) Dingman, sixteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Don is survived by his sister Betty Jane Anderson and his three brothers Jack Davidson, Robert Davidson and Phillip Davidson. He is predeceased by his brothers Eugene Davidson, and William Davidson. The family would like to thank and acknowledge the compassionate care and support of the TideWell Sarasota Hospice House.
