Donald James Forte died Sunday December 6, 2020 at Bruce McCandless Community Living Center in Florence, CO. Don was 90 years old. He was born April 21, 1930 in Walsenburg, CO to Anton and Lena Forte. He grew up in Trinidad, CO along with his older brother and sister, during the Great Depression Area. In his youth he enjoyed hiking with his dog, hunting rabbits, and playing tennis. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Army and was sent to Korea. Don served his country as a combat infantryman in the Korean war having achieved the rank of Corporal at the time of his honorable discharge. Don then moved to Denver, CO and became an avid skier. There he met Roberta Bloedel who became his wife and is the mother of his three children. Don joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church, sharing his faith in God with his family and others through literature evangelism and bible studies. Don made many friends throughout the years, living in different areas of Colorado and in Wyoming. He will be lovingly remembered for his love and dedication to his Lord and Savior, his family, and to his church family, most recently in Canon City, CO, as well as for his delightful sense of humor. Don was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Anthony, and sister Catherine, and by his granddaughter Autumn Jansen. He is survived by his son Seth Forte, two daughters, Jessica (Marty) Jansen, and Stephanie Rose, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. To honor Don's request that no formal services be held, a brief memorial in celebration of Don's life will take place during the Sabbath worship service at the Canon City, CO Seventh-day Adventist Church on Saturday, February 20, 2021.
