Donald R. Foss

Mr. Donald R. Foss, 58 years old of Log City Road, died Thursday at his home. He was born October 22, 1951 in Amsterdam, the son of Donald W. and Cecelia Mydlowski Foss. He graduated from the former Perth Central School in 1969, attended Doane College in Nebraska and took many courses at Union College in Schenectady. Donald was employed by the General Electric Co. in Schenectady and was transferred to Philadelphia. He then accepted a position as a consulting engineer with Stone & Webster before going to work for the Public Service Gas & Electric Co. in New Jersey. He eventually returned to General Electric in Atlanta, Georgia where he was a Project and Safety Engineer for both nuclear and fossil fuel power facilities until ill health forced his retirement. Donald was of the Roman Catholic faith. In addition to his mother, Cecelia of Amsterdam, Donald is survived by his son; Richard E. Foss of New Jersey; his daughter: Farrah L. Foss of Atlanta, Georgia; his sister: Deborah J. Foss and her husband Robert L. DeGenova of Sherborn, Massachusetts, and aunts, uncles, cousins and a step-niece and her family. In addition to his father, Donald was predeceased by his sister Darlene Foss. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Monday, November 16th, at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, with The Rev. Martin DeRose officiating. Cremation will follow at Vale Crematorium in Schenectady. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 9:00 until 11:00am prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation at St. Mary?s Hospital or Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
