Donald Edward Harris

Kingsport - Donald Edward Harris, 80 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Church Hill Healthcare and Rehab following a long illness. He was a lifelong resident of Kingsport and a veteran of the U. S. Army. Don was retired from Eastman Chemical following 30 years of service, where he worked as a maintenance mechanic. Don was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Brummett Harris; son, David Harris; grandson, Jesse Harris; parents, Garfield and Maggie Smith Harris; sister, Louise McKamey; brother, Clifford Harris. Don is survived by his daughter, Brenda Hutson and husband John of Rogersville; granddaughter, Kayla Ann Hutson; daughter-in-law, Robin Harris of Kingsport; sister, Edith Hite of Kingsport; brother, Billy Joe Harris and wife Naomi of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill, TN. Friends may also call anytime at the home of the daughter, Brenda Hutson. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Wayne Baker officiating. Music will be provided by the members of Pleasant View Baptist Church. A military graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at East Lawn Memorial Park with the American Legion Post #3/265 conducting the rites. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:55 pm. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the Harris family.
