Donald "Don" R Johnson, Jr.

January 26th, 1946 - August 12th, 2024

Donald R Johnson Jr passed away on August 12th, 2024.  He was born January 26th 1946 in Keokuk Iowa, the first son of Donald and Inez (Creekmore) Johnson.

Don graduated from Keokuk High School and Iowa State University with a degree in chemical engineering. 

Following his marriage to Delores (Dee) Giles in 1968 he served with the U.S. Army with one tour in Vietnam.  Don and Dee raised two sons, Donny and Dan.

His work in the fertilizer industry included chemical plants in Fort Madison Iowa, El Centro California, Cheyenne Wyoming, Omaha Nebraska and Lima Ohio before retiring to Vail Arizona in 2008. 

Biking, hiking, motor cycling, golf, roller blading, welding and of course the horse (Ace) and the yellow lab (Rudy) kept him busy.  He enjoyed family and friends and dearly loved by nieces and nephews that called him mean old uncle Bob (he loved to play tricks on them).He was proceeded in death by his parents, brother Glenn and son Donny.  He is survived by his sisters Nancey (Jerry) Sanders, Paula Johnson, and brothers Ken (Jean), Clay (Cindy) and Vern (Mary) and many nieces, nephews, and friends. 

Family and friends will celebrate his life on August 31st, 2-5 PM at the Tanque Verde Guest Ranch, Tucson AZ.  Please let Dee or Dan know if you plan to attend.
