Donald Eugene Layman

Donald Eugene Layman, age 76, passed away Monday afternoon, January 20, 2020. Donald was born February 19, 1943 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was the son of the late Donald H. Layman and Ellen Layman. Donald enlisted into the Marine Corps at the age of 17 and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan before completing his military career in Quantico, VA. He met his beautiful wife of 55 years, Judy while stationed in Quantico, VA. In 1964, Donald began his lifetime career as an automotive mechanic. First as a mechanic at a Falls Church, VA Mobil service station (Finnell Brothers), he later retired in the mid 90’s as a Senior Mechanic Supervisor for Fairfax County (VA) EMTA/DVS. Donald loved sports, especially football, where his favorite team was the Washington Redskins. Donald was a caring father who enjoyed time with his family and friends. He loved the many family pets (dogs) in his life. He spent many of his weekends at his country cabin in Warren County, VA. Donald is survived by his wife Judy, son Donald, daughter Tracy, sisters Paulette and Phyllis and brother Alan. He is predeceased by his parents and sisters Charlene and Janice. A farewell memorial will be held Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Advent Funeral and Cremation Services, 7211 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22046 between the hours of 1 PM and 5 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be sent to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
