Donald Maines, 75, of LaFayette passed away Friday, at St Joseph’s Hospital after a long illness. Don was born on November 23, 1942 in Syracuse the son of the late Loran and Zona Grumback Maines. He served in the US Army during Vietnam. Don was the owner of Green Thumb Markets for 46 years. He was a member of Camillus Sportsman Club, an avid enthusiast of shooting sports, and loved to go salmon fishing in Alaska. Don and Donna loved traveling the United States and learning the history of the United States. He won national awards for his ability to restore Model A Fords. Predeceased by his brother Howard Maines. Survived by his loving wife of 52 years Donna Iurino Maines; daughters: Denise (Matthew) Dodge, Danielle (Sean) Conley; son, David (Marissa) Maines; grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Darren, Cassandra, Britney, Meghan, Shannon, Colleen, Ethan, Owen, Aiden, Dawson, Nolan, and Fiona; sister, Ellen Lorraine West. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 4-7pm at Ballweg- Lunsford Funeral Home, 2584 Field Lane, LaFayette. Funeral Service will be on Friday, October 26 at 11 am in Columbian Presbyterian Church, the corner Rt 11 & Rt 20 in LaFayette.
