Donald Eugene Marshall
June 23rd, 1940 - August 15th, 2023
Donald Eugene Marshall, 83, passed away at his home in Pioneer, CA on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. He was born on June 23, 1940 in San Mateo, CA, to Torie Delilah Nance and William Rolland Marshall. On July 4, 1962, he married the love of his life, Barbara Dean Rosson, in Fresno, CA. She survives along with their two daughters, ToyLeann (Elson) Mast of Pikeville, TN, and Sabrina (Stephen) Dill of Pioneer, CA. Donnie graduated from Sierra High School and served four years in the Navy (1959- 1963) as an interior Communications Technician aboard the USS Estes AGC-12. After an honorable discharge, he was employed by PG&E as a 2nd, 1st, and roving operator at Balch Camp Hydroelectric and Stockton Hydro. And later became powerhouse foreman at Tiger Creek as well as Hydro Electric Supervisor on the Mokelumne Rivershed in Amador County. He retired from PG&E in 1994. He was good at his job and had many friends. In retirement, he enjoyed many hobbies and activities. He loved to prospect for gold, fish, target practice, explore on ATV’s and tinker in his shop. He was a “fix-it” man. He often said, “I can fix anything but a broken heart.” He loved his family and shared with his daughters, nieces, nephews, and grandsons a wealth of knowledge and life skills. He was a beloved son, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and great grandfather. His family will miss him deeply. Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Billy Rolland Marshall and two sisters, Betty Maynor of Garden Grove, CA, and Marlene Forbes of Fresno, CA. Those that survive are his wife, two daughters, and five grandsons, Andrew (Julianna) Mast, Aaron (Christina) Mast, Nathan Mast (Allison Baker), Justyn Dill, Austyn Dill and three great grandsons, Marshall, Henry, and Josiah. A brother, Robert Clark, of Greenville, CA also survives, along with multiple beloved nieces and nephews. At the family’s request there will be no services at this time.
