Mir, Donald W., 84 of Sun City Center, Fl, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Tampa General Hospital. Donald was born in Syracuse, NY on June 23, 1927 and spent his youth in Queens, NY. He was a retired from the Men's Clothing industry and was a World War 2 U.S. Army veteran. He was a talented baseball player and was selected to try out for the New York Yankees and he continued to be and avid sports fan throughout his live. He took great creative joy in writing poetry and short stories. Survivors include his beloved wife of 30 years Carol S. Mir, Sons Richard (Cyndi) Mir, Russell (Jody) Mir both of Fabius, NY, Christopher (Helen) Mir of Syracuse, NY daughters Leslie (David) Field of Fabius, NY and Rachel (Chris) Piper of Weston, Mass, Stepchildren Wendy (James) Conaty of Swampscott, Mass and Terry (Louise) Austin of San Mateo, CA. Donald is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren and a step-great-granddaughter.A family Celebration of Life will be held in Syracuse, NY at a later date and there will be a celebratory gathering in Sun City Center at a date to be decided.Donation my be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 14010 Roosevelt Blvd, Suite 709, Clearwater, FL 33762-3820 Arrangements by Sun City Center Funeral Home, 1851 Rickenbacker Drive, Sun City Center, FL 33573
