"Warren - Donald R. Neilsen, 85, of Little Rest Rd., passed away on May 16, 2016 at home. He was born March 10, 1931 in Agawam, son of Raymond and Rosella (Arnold) Neilsen. Donald has lived in Warren for over 40 years and previously resided Brimfield and Agawam. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Donald retired, as a Rural Postal Carrier in Brimfield for the US Postal Service after working for 30 years. Don was a handyman, he enjoyed building homes gardening and working outdoors. He also enjoyed taking trips to Florida. He is survived by two sons, Donald E. Neilsen and wife Prudence of Warren and Raymond Neilsen and wife Barbara of Westfield and a daughter, Barbara Trombly and husband Scott of Warren. He also leaves 8 grandchildren, Jamie, Bobby, Ronny, Jacob, Michael, Katie, Lauren, and Brian and great grandchildren, Kassidy, Corah, Madison, with another expected in August. He also leaves a brother, Douglas Neilsen of FL. Donald was preceded in death by his wife Barbara A. (Wetherbee), brother Robert and two sisters Nancy and Barbara. Calling hours will be Thursday, May 19th from 9:30-11:30am followed by a service at 11:30am at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. Burial will be private. Donations may be made in his name to the Wounded Warriors Project, www.woundedwarriorproject. org"
