Donald Oberg

Donald David Oberg passed away June 15th, 2013 from age related causes. He was 91. Born in Etna, Nebraska to David and Elizabeth Oberg, he was a ranch hand and farmer until being inducted into the Army Air Corp in 1942 and served as a crew chief on B-24's in the 446th Bomb Group. He married Virginia Weinman after the war and moved to Oregon in 1957.Don had a successful career in the wood products industry, was an active member of the Willakenzie Evangelical Church, the Gilham Community Church and the United Commercial Travelers. In retirement he was an active volunteer for the Southwest Indian School in Phoenix and estate planning for the Evangelical Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, camping, traveling and bowling. After the death of Virginia in 1985, Don married Margery Spear in 1986.He is survived by Margery, his children, Doris Ritzman and Roger Oberg, grandchildren, Lance Ritzman, Shane Ritzman, Ryan Oberg and Breeonna Oberg and two great grandchildren.He gave us love, commitment, stability, encouragement and perspective from the greatest generation. We wil miss him.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sacred Heart Hospice or the American Cancer Society.A memorial service will be July 9th at 11:00 at Willakenzie Community Church, 3040 Willakenzie Road, Eugene, Oregon.
