Donald Carl Pearson
September 17th, 1935 - August 2nd, 2011
Donald Carl Pearson, 75, of Northglenn, CO, passed away at home following a prolonged illness on August 2, 2011. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His last eight years of his working career was spent at Tebo's Garage, managing an antique and classic car collection, retiring last September on his 75th birthday. He once was an competitive snowmobile racer, once winning the Kawartha Cup in 1969 at the International Snowmobile Championship Race in Lake Placid, NY, competing against over 300 contestants. He also once loved stock car racing, restarting a brief career as a driver at the age of 61, racing his IMCA stock car within the state. He most recently enjoyed traveling, selling on E-Bay having established with his wife a business, and always, vintage and classic cars. Don served in the US Army on active duty from 1955 - 1957 at Fort Riley, Kansas, moved back to his home of Duluth, Minnesota, then went to Army reserve status until being honorably discharged in 1961. He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald W. and Margaret S. Pearson of Boulder, CO. Don is survived by his wife of almost five years, Mary Alice Pearson of Northglenn. They were married September 9, 2006. Other surviving family members include sons Wayne Pearson (Brenda) of Benton, LA; Mike Copley of Federal Heights, CO; daughters Laurie Gent (David) of Cabot, AR; Cynthia Bevill of Greers Ferry, AR; Julie Copley of Denver, CO; Theresa Crites (Brian) of Castle Rock, CO; and Sheryl Nordberg (Eric) of Colorado Springs, CO, along with 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many other relatives and devoted friends. He was of the Lutheran faith. Funeral will be conducted at Journey Church of Longmont, 1285 South Fordham, Longmont, CO on Monday, August 8, 2011 at 10:30 a.m., with burial to follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Ave., Denver, CO at 1:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be Jack Kinney, Kelly Mickelson, David Crossland, Mark Hutchins, Darren Muth, and Dale Petty.
