Donald "Don" Powell
April 10th, 1946 - June 20th, 2018
Donald “Don” Powell, 72, went to be with the Lord June 20, 2018 from complications that started from cancer. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be 3:00 PM Sunday June 24, 2018 at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services Chapel in Kernersville, North Carolina. Don was born April 10, 1946 in Easton, Pennsylvania to the late Jenny Harrison Powell and Anton Steven Powell. He graduated from Nazareth High School in 1964. He married the love of his life, Carolyn “Chickie” Wagner Powell, on June 6, 1987. Together they raised three sons and a daughter in Effort, Pennslyvania. Don was known as a dedicated and loving Husband, Father, and Pappy. Don never spoke bad about anyone and always put others before himself. A few of the things he enjoyed most were woodworking and building, spending precious time with his family, and especially spoiling his grandchildren. Don and Chickie were known to throw the best parties to be with their friends and family. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by an infant brother, Robert Powell. Survivors include; wife, Carolyn “ Chickie” Powell; daughter, Crystal Metzler and Richard; sons, Wayne Powell, Scott Powell and Jessica, and Ben Powell and Fran; sisters, Joyce Cropper and Jim, Mary Powell, and Shirley Krock and Danny; brother, Jimmy Powell and Lisa; 13 grandchildren; a great grandchild; and many extended family and friends.
