Donald "Bubba" P. Schmidtmann
January 9th, 1954 - December 1st, 2018
Mr. Donald P. “Bubba” Schmidtmann, Jr. of Tribes Hill, New York died peacefully on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by his family. He was 64. A lifelong area resident, Bubba was born on January 9, 1954 in Amsterdam, NY the son of the late Donald P. Schmidtmann Sr. and Jeanne M. Corsette Schmidtmann. He was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School and was employed locally by Coleco Industries. On April 7, 1979 he was united in marriage to Julie A. Bottisti. Together for nearly 40 years, they enjoyed their lives together. Together they were members of the Tribes Hill Volunteer Fire Department. Don has been a member for the past 37 years serving as Assistant Chief and President. He was also a member of the Southern Adirondack Dog Club serving on the Board of Directors. Bubba will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his wife, Julie; one son, Gregory Smith of Catskill, NY; three grandchildren, Amie, Aron, and Skylar; three great grandchildren, Lola, Patricia and Jack; his brothers, Michael Schmidtmann (Maureen) of Perth, NY, Timothy Schmidtmann (Maria) of Gloversville, NY, Thomas Schmidtmann (Marcia) of Amsterdam, NY and William Schmidtmann of Perth, NY; one aunt, Debra Supple of Syracuse, NY; one uncle David Corsette of Bernard’s Bay, NY. Extended family members include his sister-in-law, Marilyn Keenan (Michael); two brothers-in-law, Bill Bottisti (Tammy) and Nick Bottisti (Kelly); a special friend, Ralph; and his brothers and sisters in Fire Service. He was predeceased by three brothers, Chris, David and Jeffrey; and a sister-in-law, Michele. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 11a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Burial will follow in the family plot at Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours for relatives and friends will be held on Friday evening from 4 until 7p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Tribes Hill Volunteer Fire Department or the Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter, 133 Hilltop Road, Sprakers, NY 12166.
