Donald Thompson A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 27 at West Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Eugene for Donald L. Thompson of Eugene, who died Dec. 11 of cancer. He was 75. He was born July 18, 1936, in Steamboat Springs, Colo., to Horace and Velma Morris Thompson. He married Janice Saylor on Oct. 12, 1995, in Eugene. She died June 17, 2009. He attended a one-room school in Steamboat Springs. He worked as a union car hauler for more than 30 years. He later owned his own trucks and, after his retirement, worked in construction and owned his own belly dump vehicle. Survivors include two sons, Darwin of Troutdale and Lee of Roseburg; a daughter, Donna Jackson of Winston; a brother, Paul of Roseburg; a sister, Carma Burwell of Canyonville; and seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Inurnment will be at West Lawn Memorial Park in Eugene. Remembrances to Greenhill Humane Society.
