Donna Jean Hubbard

Donna Jean Cockroft Hubbard, 75, of Greeley, CO passed away May 12, 2014 at Hospice of Northern Colorado. She was born at home in Phillips County, Kansas to Glenn Raymond and Violet Valentine Crider Cockroft. Her family moved to a farm near Kersey, Colorado in 1947, and she graduated from Kersey High School in 1956. After working as a secretary for a year in Denver, she attended Miltonvale Wesleyan College in Kansas graduating with an Associate’s degree in 1959, then married Francis Hubbard on August 21, 1959. They moved to Marion, Indiana where she worked at Wesleyan Headquarters for Dr. Bernard H. Phaup while Francis finished his degree. Son, Francis Gregory was born in 1960, then daughter Beverly Jean arrived in 1962, six weeks before they moved to Topeka, Kansas to pastor The Gage Park Wesleyan Church. Son, Robert Wayne arrived in 1963 and Donna loved being a full-time mother, and home-maker. In 1971, the family moved to Colorado to pastor The Greeley Wesleyan Church, then returned to Kansas in 1982 when Francis was elected District Superintendent, and retired back in Colorado in 1994. Donna worked at various office jobs, but her greatest passion after her love for Jesus was for family and friends. She loved playing games, laughing, singing, collecting hats and thimbles, and quilting. She was a wise, compassionate listener as she counseled and prayed for many over the years. She is survived by son, Greg Hubbard and wife Suzanne of Greeley; daughter, Beverly Hoge and husband Ken of Frisco, Texas; son, Robert Hubbard and partner Jim Miller of Bennett; four grandchildren, Ashley and Josh Hubbard, Alyx and Geordyn Hoge; sisters, Anne Marshall and Linda Head, and brothers, Loren and Jim Cockroft. Donna was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Leita Green. Visitation will be from 5-7p.m.Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Adamson Chapel.
