Donna May Smith

February 10th, 1933 - May 24th, 2012

Donna (Rothenfluch) Smith was born on February 10, 1933, to Ralph & Doris (Gaddis) Rothenfluch in Metzger, Oregon. Donna attended St. John the Baptist Grade School in Milwaukie, and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Portland in 1951. She passed away on May 24, 2012 from pancreatic cancer. Donna worked for BF Goodrich until she married in 1957 to the love of her life, Donald F. Smith. Donna worked for the Portland School District for many years, but moved to Japan for 2 years with her husband, establishing the Tokyo and Far East branch for ESI. She later returned to the Portland School District at Bridlemile Grade School as the secretary and “cookie lady.” After retirement, they traveled extensively with family and friends, especially to Europe and Hawaii. She was a member of the St. John Fisher Alter Guild, an avid Bridge and Pinochle player, gardener and loved a day trip to Spirit Mountain Casino (and winning!) with her husband. Donna is survived by her husband, Don; children Kellie Kiest (Ken), Shannon Spencer (Jeff);Bryan Smith (Lisa); grandchildren, Kayla Kiest-Lundeen (John), Kourtney Kiest, Stephanie Spencer, Sean Spencer, Megan Spencer, Kendall Smith, Jacob Smith; great granddaughter Maria (Mia) Lundeen and another on the way. Her siblings are Jerry Rothenfluch (Kathy), Dean Rothenfluch (Debbie) and Betty Jansen. Services will be held at St. John Fisher church on June 4, 2012 at 10 am with a Celebration of Life in the Reception Hall immediately following. St. John Fisher Catholic Church 7007 SW 46th Avenue Portland, OR 97219 In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon in Beaverton.
