Donna Kay Spinner-Byrd, 68, passed away on January 1, 2024. She was born in Syracuse, NY on April 9,1955 to the late Howard and Barbara Supernault Spinner. God called Donna home to reunite with the love of her life and husband, Matthew Byrd Sr. Donna loved her family, her friends and her westside community. Most of her career was working in food service, filling people’s hearts and souls with good food made with love at places like Nojaims, The Boys & Girls Clubs of Syracuse, and Munchies. Her nickname was the Queen of Slocum Ave. She loved to play with her grandkids, talk on the phone, go fishing, and visit the casino. She absolutely loved music. Donna is survived by her three children, Matthew Byrd Jr, Syeisha Byrd, and Shondar Byrd, 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Her sisters, Darlene Spinner, Cheryl Dare (Frank) and Diane Spinner, several loving nieces and nephews, and many community children that she helped raise, her best friend Susie and close runner ups-Aunt Sue, Liza, Candy, and Eleanor and Liz. A Celebration of life will be held on Jan. 14 at 12pm at 303 Hiawatha Blvd E. Arrangements are in care of A.Dewitt Memorial Funeral Home, Syracuse, NY. JAN MALOFF FUNERAL DIRECTOR
