Donnie Spivey
April 28th, 1940 - May 1st, 2017
Sunrise April 28, 1940 – Sunset May 1, 2017 It is with sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, Donnie Spivey (Wilkerson), on May 1, 2017 in University Place, WA surrounded by her loving family two days after celebrating her 77 birthday. Born April 28, 1940, she was the first born child to Donnie and Ora Lee Wilkerson. Donnie peacefully transitioned to heaven on May 1, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, her granddaughter Araiya Spivey, her daughter Vicky King, her brother Willi Wilkerson, and her significant other Mr. Sheryol Clack. She loved her family and was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by 6 children; Lee King (Gina), Joe King (Maria), Beverly Simmons, Berenda McCutcheon, Calvin Spivey (Tonya), and Christopher Spivey (Ashley), 15 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, 1 sister, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends. She spent her childhood years in Waco, Texas, she enjoyed her time in Germany as a military wife, as well as a print model and hosted fashion shows with the local military dependent youth in the community. She was dedicated to the community and served on several boards, committees, and commissions in Washington, California, and Texas where those less fortunate were impacted by her kind and generous heart. She loved having family gatherings, hosting events, cooking, dancing, traveling, and singing in her church choir at Macedonia First Baptist Church in Bastrop, Texas. She was a natural comedian and always had a smile on her face. She touched everyone who knew her and treated everyone as a family member. She would always have earrings in and her lipstick on. Her favorite saying was, “Just because you’re sick don’t mean you should look sick.” Her greatest impact can be seen by the people she has influenced during her time on this earth and her legacy will forever be felt for many generations to come. A memorial service will be held at noon, with a wake following from 1-3:30 on Saturday June 3, 2017 at Christian Faith Center, 33645 20th Ave S, Federal Way, WA 98003 with Zac Bartelt officiating. The family would also like to extend their thanks to the Franciscan Hospice House and the compassionate care given to her by the Hospice and Palliative Care staff as well as the Hospice team with CHI Franciscan health.
