Donovan Dean Durband, 58, of Tucson died Saturday, June 3, 2023. Donovan was born on January 1, 1965 in Rock Rapids, Iowa to James and Joan Durband. He completed his K-12 education in Hull, Iowa and Holland, Michigan, graduating from Holland High School in 1983. He continued his studies at Northwestern University until Tucson beckoned him. Donovan received a B.S. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and an M.S. in Urban Planning from the University of Arizona. On March 6, 1993, Donovan married Erin Maharry at the Arizona Inn in Tucson. They have been partners in every sense of the word, envisioning and carrying out creative ventures, as well as traveling as often as possible. Donovan was an avid Wildcats and baseball fan . Survivors include his beloved wife Erin, his siblings Stephanie (Philip) Doeschot of Columbia, IL, Dennis (Steffanie) Durband of Show Low, AZ, Nancy Durband of Phoenix, AZ, Randy Durband of Suwon, South Korea, nephews Andrew (Nicole) Doeschot, Stephen (Pam) Doeschot, Michael Van Huis, Timothy (Chris) Doeschot, Derek Van Huis, 3 great-nephews, Jack, Ozzie, Wyatt and 2 greatnieces, Sadie and Parker. Donovan was preceded in death by his parents, James and Joan Durband, and grandparents. A Celebration of Life service is being planned for Saturday, June 24 at 12 pm at the Fox Theater in Tucson. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Donovan’s memory can be made to the Fox Tucson Theatre Foundation or the Rialto Theatre Foundation.
