Donovan Dewey Fellows
August 25th, 1927 - July 28th, 2011
Donovan Dewey Fellows, 83, passed away Thursday July 28, 2011 in the comfort of his Beaverton home with the love and support of his devoted family. Born in Glenwood, MN on August 25, 1927, Don spent the early years of his life in Montana, excelling in sports, enjoying his passion for fishing and hunting and finding the love his life Rose Marie Duvall, his surviving wife of 62 wonderful years. At 18, Don joined the Navy eventually ending his service as Chief Petty Officer in the Naval Reserves. The consummate family man, Don and Rose raised three sons Christopher, Jeremy and Bradley with love, compassion, values and incredible opportunity. As a result, the family grew to include his daughters-in-law Cindy, Patti and Nancie, whom he loved and enjoyed for decades. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his grandchildren Donnie (wife Mary), Paige (husband Ian), Brandon, Danielle and Lauren and welcoming the next generation of Fellows, his great grandchildren, Carson, Nathan and Tyler. Beyond his family success, Don displayed incredible dedication and rare work ethic, spending 45 years with Consolidated Freightways retiring as Director of Internal Audit in Portland, OR in 1993. Feared by some for his toughness, respected by all for his professionalism and loved by many for his kindness, Don mentored hundreds of employees over his many years with the company. His passion for CF continued for 18 years after retirement as an active member of Portland’s “Ex-Con’s.” A celebration of life will be planned and communicated later this summer and the family respectfully requests that any remembrances be provided in the form of donations to the American Diabetes Association in his name. Arrangements by Autumn Funerals, Cremation & Burial, Tigard.
