Dora Belle Gentry

Dora Belle Gentry 78, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at her residence. Belle was born in Kyles Ford, TN to the late James and Eva Miller. She was a member of Gravely Baptist Church until 2002 and then became a member of Bloomingdale Baptist Church. Belle worked for many years in retail at Park Belks, Proffitt's, Hess's, and Belk where she retired from in 2014. Belle was a talented seamstress and a collector of many things. She enjoyed spending time with family and was especially proud of her grandsons. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Gentry; sister, Lokiel Arden. Survivors include her son, Jeffery Scott Gentry; daughter, Jennifer Lynne Swinson and husband, Michael; grandsons, Jake and Sam Swinson; brother, Claude O. Miller and wife Evelyn; sisters, Brooksie Meade and husband Don; Barbara Lane and husband Fred; along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 8, 2018 from 11am to 1pm at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport. A funeral service will follow with Pastor David Salley and Pastor Phil Whittemore officiating. Music will be provided by members of the family. A graveside service will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Michael Swinson, Jake Swinson, Sam Swinson, Todd Lane, Kenneth Lane, Jordan Lane, and Ryan Wagner serving as pallbearers. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Wellmont Hospice for their loving care. Carter-Trent Funeral Home downtown, Kingsport is serving the Gentry family.
