Doris Eugene Kerbs
August 6th, 1920 - February 14th, 2011
Doris Eugene Kerbs, 90, of Fort Collins, CO, formerly of Pierce, CO passed away February 14, 2011 at Columbine West Health in Fort Collins. She was born August 6, 1920 in Ault, CO to Frank A. and Susie (Tormey) Batman. She grew up on the farm and graduated from Pierce High School where she was active in music and played on the girls basketball team. Doris graduated from Colorado State University formerly Colorado A & M with a degree in Home Economics. While in junior high school, Doris met the love of her life, Robert "Red” Kerbs. They were married in the summer of 1942 in San Diego, CA. Doris taught school for a few years and then focused her energies on raising her family. She was always there for her children, supporting them in school activities, piano lessons and 4-H. She enjoyed having her grandchildren with her for holidays and summer vacations. She was the "Rock” of the family. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Pierce, Women’s Democratic Club and enjoyed attending Red Hat Society functions with her niece, Pattie. Doris is survived by her daughter, Kay (Jim) Byers of Griswold, IA; son, Terry Kerbs of Clarksville, AR; grandchildren, Dana Byers and Dawn Bash of Pierce, Tonya Kerbs-Holliday of Davenport, IA, Derrick Byers of Lewis, IA, Doreen Putman of Carson, IA; great granddaughters, Sabrina Bash, Marissa Bash, and Karly Byers; sister, Nonnie Horning of Littleton, CO; brothers, Frank Arthur Batman of Pierce, Larry Batman of Greeley; and a large number of extended family members. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kerbs; daughter, Gwen Gerstenberger; parents; six sisters; and one brother. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Adamson Chapel Funeral Services 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 17, 2011 at First United Methodist Church 429 3rd Street, Pierce followed by interment at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Collins. Memorial contributions may be made to "First United Methodist Church” in care of Adamson Funeral & Cremation Services, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, Colorado 80634.
