Doris Joy Lamb Sisk Mrs. Sisk, 85, of Charlotte, NC died Tuesday, February 5, 2013, in the Harris Hospice Unit at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC. Doris was born December 27, 1927, in Gaston, County, NC a daughter of the late Oscar and Iva Roseman Joy. Later her family moved to Charlotte, NC where she graduated from Paw Creek High School in 1945. She married to her first husband, Robert Lamb in 1946 and they resided in New Bern, NC for three years. She then moved back to Charlotte, NC where she resided with Robert until his death in 1962. In 1967 she married Oscar Sisk. Doris was a life time member of Paw Creek Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir for over 55 years, taught Sunday school, Bible school and was active with the women of the church as long as her health allowed. Doris was a wonderful mother, who enjoyed time with family, fishing, cooking, bowling and sewing. In addition to her parents and first husband, Doris was preceded in death by her brothers, Torrence, Bain, Frank, Jean, Bill, Charles and Oscar Franklin Joy, Jr.; sisters, Mae Joy Midgett, Ruth Joy Weaver, Laura Joy Outz and Helen Joy Reames and her great grandson, Mateo H. Tyler. Survivors include her husband, Oscar Sisk; daughters, Joy Lamb Tyler and husband, Bill; Deborah Lamb Stroud and husband, Michael; sons, Robert M. Lamb and wife, Sharon; and Timothy Sisk; brother, Don Joy and wife, Barbara; sister in law Lillian Joy; brother in law Jarvis Midgett; grandchildren, Jason M. Stroud and wife, Jamie; Christy Tyler Corder and husband, Heath; Robert A. Tyler and wife, Tina; Jonathan L. Stroud; Robert S. Lamb and wife, Megan; Christopher G. Stroud and wife, Leanne; and Michelle Lamb Halterman and husband, Richard; great grandchildren, Alexis Tyler, Autumn Corder, Noah Stroud, Lucas Stroud and Cayleigh Tyler and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Mrs. Sisk will be held 1 :00 PM Friday, February 8, 2013, at Paw Creek Presbyterian Church with the family receiving friends at the church from 11:30 AM until the service hour. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. If you would like to make a donation in lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Harris Hospice Unit, Presbyterian Hospital, PO Box 33549, Charlotte, NC 28233 or Paw Creek Presbyterian Church Choir Fund at, 7416 Old Mt Holly Rd., Charlotte, NC 28214.
