Doris Bowden Sloan had died at age 92 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Mrs. Sloan was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Davis Sloan earlier this year. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Hughes and her son Davis Sloan III, both of Charlotte; granddaughters, Krista M. Kohlphenson and Tina Kohlphenson of Greensboro, NC, Emily C. Miller of Mooresville, NC; and four great grandchildren, Logan Keith Miller, Taryn Christine Kohlphenson, Isaac Sloan Kohlphenson and Sophie Michelle Kohlphenson. Mrs. Sloan was a member of First Baptist Church of Charlotte. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 23, 2012 in the chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the RHA Howell Center at Clearcreek, RH Howell Care Centers, Inc. 3738 Howell Day Care Road, LaGrange, NC 28551.
