Doris "Nolan" M. Thompson
February 22nd, 1925 - December 29th, 2019
"Springfield-Doris M. (Nolan) Thompson, 94, died on Sunday, December 29th at Life Care Center of Wilbraham, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Springfield on February 22, 1925, she was the daughter of James and Lillian (Fitzgerald) Nolan. Doris grew up in Springfield and was a graduate of High School of Commerce. She and her husband Edward, who predeceased her in 2002, resided in the Sixteen Acres section of Springfield for many years before she moved to Wilbraham to live with family after Ed's passing. Doris was employed for many years at the former Casual Corner and the City of Springfield before retiring. She was a faithful communicant and one of the founding parishioners of St. Patrick's Church along with being active in the Women's Club and variety shows. Doris has most recently been a communicant at St. Cecilia's Church. The love that she had for her family and her kind, gentle smile will always be remembered. She will be forever missed by her two children, James and his wife Cathy of Wilbraham and Celine and her husband Al Crepeau of Hampden along with her six grandchildren, Jules, III of Springfield, Chelsea (Geoff) of Ludlow, Elise (Paul) of Wilbraham, Marie of Wilbraham, Michelle of Wilbraham and Nolan of Phoenix, AZ, and two great grandchildren, Aidan and Cristiano, with a third arriving in March. A Funeral Mass will be on Friday, January 3rd at 11:00 am at St. Cecilia's Church followed by burial in Woodland Dell Cemetery. A calling hour will precede the Mass from 9:30 to 10:30 am at Beers and Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 North Main St. Memorial donations in her name may be made to either the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association."
