My Life Story Dorothea “Dottie” Marie Baxter, 88, of Boise passed away at home peacefully with her son at her side after an extended illness on October 26, 2017. She was born on May 3, 1929 in Casper, Wyoming to George H. (Lt. Col., Retired) and Cecelia D. McFall. She attended St. Theresa's Grade School and Cole Grade School in Boise. She lived on a small property where they had a horse and chickens. She attended Providence Academy High School in Alexandria, Louisiana and graduated in 1948. At age 17 she took a ride in an open air Biplane which was a sign of a somewhat adventurous spirit. Dorothea attended Boise Junior College in 1948 - 1949. At BJC she met Robert L. Baxter and they married on June 25, 1950. She worked at General Electric in Boise as a Teletyper and the Idaho State Insurance Department as a secretary. She worked at the House of Representatives and the Senate at the Idaho Legislature for 17 years and then became Secretary of the Senate for 10 years. She was presented the Liberty Bell Award for her service in the legislature by the Justices of the Supreme Court. Dorothea and Bob enjoyed going to BSU football games with friends for many years. Dorothea and Bob, a founding member, played tennis at the Boise Racquet and Swim club where her serve was legendary. She and Bob enjoyed many happy years at their cabin in McCall with family and friends. She took up painting for a time and displayed her masterpieces in the cabin. They had many great get-togethers in the Rudy Dinner Club, some of which were legendary. The highlight of their lives were the many trips to Hawaii with friends, a cruise to the Caribbean and a trip to the San Juan Islands. Dorothea enjoyed playing in the Bridge Club with a close circle of friends for over 50 years. Nothing stopped the Bridge Club schedule! Sometime after Bob's passing she took a trip to Italy with friends, Patty and June. There were also many trips to Yuma, AZ and the Oregon Coast with family. She enjoyed an Irish hot air balloon ride on her birthday some years ago. She took ownership of Brittster, a Brittany Spaniel puppy in McCall in 2002. Britt was a handful but Mom said she was in it for the long haul on more than one occasion! Britt is also missing her now. Dorothea is survived by her 3 children: Karen (Don) Cadotte, Kurt Baxter and Laurie Lee; five grandchildren: Ryan (Hillary) Zaccheo, Dylan Cadotte, Nathan Roberson, Scott (Holly) Lee and Roseanne (Steve) Lee; five great grandchildren: Valerie and Mia Zaccheo, Nakalia Roberson, Addy Lee, and Scarlet Lee Clow; cousin, Helen Mimbs and her children: Chris, Mary, Marty and Kathy; nephew, Mike McFall and niece, Carol McFall. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert L. Baxter; brother, Thom McFall; aunt, Aurelia Reneau and son-in-law, Robert Lee. The family would like to thank Dr. Mike Maier and staff at St Luke's Mountain View Medical; Dr. Bolinder and Dr. Arteta and staff at St. Luke's MSTI; Dr. Weise and staff at St. Luke's Pulmonary; Horizon Hospice and staff; Karen and Clint Simkins, Eucharistic Ministers of St. Mark's Catholic Community and Jackie Baxter for their care and companionship. In lieu of flowers Dorothea requested donations to be made to the Monastery of St. Gertrude in Cottonwood, ID or St. Jude's Charity at St. Mark's Catholic Community in Boise, ID. There will be a viewing at 6:30 PM at St. Mark's Catholic Community on Wednesday, November 8th followed by a Vigil and Rosary at 7:00 PM. We Entrusted Dorothea Baxter's Care To

Accent Funeral Home

A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
