Ullrey Memorial Chapel
Dorothea Reische
March 20th, 1931 - December 18th, 2014
Dorothea (Dot) passed peacefully at home with family by her side. Dorothea was born March 20, 1931 in Marysville, CA, and passed on December 18, 2014. She lived her entire 83 years in Yuba City. Dorothea is survived by her daughter, Susan Ricketts of Durham, CA, 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John Reische, her son Les Ricketts, her granddaughter Ann Marie Ricketts, her brother Claude C. (Buck) Barkley, her sister Kathleen Waters and parents Claude C. and Catherine Adams Barkley. Dorothea was a 1953 graduate of Highland School of Nursing in Oakland, CA. She was a Registered Nurse for Marysville Medical Group (The Clinic) for 40 years. She spent the majority of those years in the OB-GYN department. Dorothea also taught Lamaze (prepared childbirth) classes the last 20 years of her career for the Marysville Medical Group. She spent every Wednesday night with her Lamaze moms and dads. It was a great joy for her to continue to be recognized and greeted by her Lamaze parents and to hear of their children. Dorothea was known for wearing her nursing cap proudly to work everyday. She was the absolute nurse, kind and comforting. Mom was lovingly cared for by all the RN's and staff at the Rideout Cancer Center the last 18 months. Mom was so thankful to have had such wonderful care by an extremely professional, kind and skilled staff. Thank you to each and everyone of you at RCC. You deeply touched our hearts at every visit. And last, Mom was the best mom in the world. There will be no funeral services per her request. Dorothea will be inurned at a later date next to John at Sutter Cemetery. Memorials to the Sutter County Memorial Museum or the Rideout Cancer Center are suggested.
