Dorothy Jane Davis Ward

Dorothy Ward, age 88, of Centennial, Colorado passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024. She was born on October 29, 1935 in Mississippi, the daughter of Irene (Thompson) and Otho Jefferson Davis. She grew up in Bassfield, Mississippi with her parents and three sisters, Shirley (Martin), Frances (Joyner) and Betty (Redondo). She was Valedictorian of her high school class in 1953 at Bassfield High School and later left Mississippi to become a nurse in Denver, Colorado where she met and married Telford Raymond Ward, Jr (Pete) who preceded her in death. Dorothy is survived by her three children, Telford Raymond Ward, III, (Pete), Melanie Sue Ward, Laurie Lynn Ward, her grandchildren, Justin Ward Lovenstein, Lily Rae Lovenstein, and her two great grandchildren, Charles Telford Lovenstein and Simon Arthur Lovenstein. After resigning from nursing, Dorothy was a loving housewife and mother to her three children in Aurora, Colorado. After their three children had grown, Telford and Dorothy moved to Centennial, Colorado where they enjoyed their retirement years. Dorothy loved reading, music, the Denver Broncos, the Colorado Rockies, going to garage sales, going to the library, taking walks and visiting neighbors. Dorothy passed away at Serenity House Assisted Living (now Assured Senior Living) where she was beloved by the staff and residents. She will be extremely missed by her family.
